This study aims to analyze the crucial role of museum guides in interpreting the collection of the Medan Indonesian Army (TNI) Struggle Museum (Kodam I/BB), focusing specifically on the Medan Area Incident (1945–1947). While the museum houses valuable artifacts, the effectiveness of delivering the historical narrative often relies on human intervention. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, this research gathered data through in-depth interviews with guides, observation of guiding sessions, and analysis of curatorial documents. The findings indicate that guides act as 'Narrative Carvers,' transforming static artifacts into a living and emotional historical experience. Key strategies utilized by the guides include locality-based storytelling, connecting artifacts with the actual geography of Medan City, and contextual presentation of key figures in the North Sumatran struggle. Guides function not merely as information providers, but as emotional bridges and agents for the conservation of collective memory. This study recommends prioritizing guide empowerment through intensive training in local historiography and sensitive interpretation techniques, as this is crucial for enhancing public education quality and preserving the historical memory of the Medan Area.
