DAMPENG: Journal of Art, Heritage and Culture is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes high-quality scholarly articles in the fields of art, cultural heritage, and cultural studies, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. The journal aims to advance scholarly inquiry into the relationships between artistic practices, cultural expressions, and the preservation and transformation of cultural heritage in local, regional, and global contexts.
The journal emphasizes innovative, critical, and practice-based research that contributes to both theoretical and applied developments in art and culture. Particular attention is given to contemporary issues such as identity, cultural sustainability, globalization, and digital transformation. Within this framework, cultural heritage and historical perspectives, including history and civilization studies, serve as essential foundations for understanding the dynamics of art and culture in society.
DAMPENG: Journal of Art, Heritage and Culture publishes scholarly articles addressing key issues in art, culture, cultural heritage, history, and civilization through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives. The scope includes, but is not limited to:
1. Performing Arts
Dance, theatre, puppetry, music, ethnomusicology, traditional and contemporary performing arts, performing arts studies, performing arts education, as well as performance management and production.
2. Visual Arts and Cultural Expression
Fine arts, sculpture, crafts, material culture, contemporary art, new media art, art education, and visual arts management.
3. Design and Creative Industries
Interior design, visual communication design, fashion design, product design, accessory and/or jewelry design, creative processes, culture-based design, and the development of creative industries.
4. Recorded Media and Digital Culture
Photography, film, television, documentary, video art, animation, games, digital storytelling, audiovisual archives, and media as platforms for cultural expression, representation, and transformation.
5. Religious Heritage and Cultural Expression
Classical and contemporary religious manuscripts, history of religion and society, religious archaeology, art, symbols, and religious practices, as well as religious traditions in local and global contexts.
6. Cultural Heritage Studies
Museum studies, history, cultural tourism, sociology, anthropology, memory studies, cultural geography, archaeological heritage, intangible cultural heritage, rituals, social practices, festivals and celebrations, folk songs, language and culture, calligraphy, heritage management and business, organizational culture, cultural entrepreneurship, cultural economics and finance, traditional food, traditional fashion and accessories, cultural policy and governance, urban heritage, cultural diversity, as well as customary law and legal systems.
7. History and Civilization Studies
Art and cultural history, social and intellectual history, historiography, civilization studies (including Islamic civilization), cross-cultural interactions, and societal transformations from historical perspectives in relation to cultural heritage and contemporary cultural practices.
8. Cultural and Social Studies
Language, architecture, oral traditions, communal practices, and socio-cultural dynamics in contemporary and global contexts.
The journal accepts research articles, review articles, research notes, commentaries, and interviews. Manuscripts may be submitted in Bahasa Indonesia or English and are intended for scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of social sciences and humanities worldwide. The journal is published quarterly (February, May, August, and November).
